Spanish and Mexican dinner party

A few weeks ago my friend Suzan and I hosted a Spanish and Mexican dinner party for some friends. We made a lot of food, put on some mexican music and decorated the place and I think it looked great. We even made our own piñata!

We made cupcakes with mustaches, sombrero's, cactuses and peppers, sombrero cookies we found on Pinterest, patatas bravas, little tortilla rolls, zucchini rols with goat cheese, chicken-ananas skewers, tomato salsa, guacamole, taco's and tortilla's.

Above you can see our cactus piñata. For more inspiration for your own Mexican/Spanish themed party you can check out Suzan and mines pinboard here.

I love themed dinner parties!

Joyce Jonathan - Je ne sais pas

A classmate at school did a presentation about Joyce Jonathan and that's how I found out about this song. Eventhough my French isn't that great, so I don't understand everthing, I like it! One day I will learn French properly, because it's such a beautifull language...

Last weeks portraits

Last week I started to draw and paint a lot of portraits out of nowhere. It's been a realy long while since I've painted, so they are not amazing, but I'll show you some of them.

I love trying out new color schemes. Right now I'm totally in love with the combination of yellow, orange and brown.

Tomorrow I will be leaving for a five day trip to the Ardennes with my friends Sophie and Chantalle. I've got two posts sceduled for coming week.

See you in a few days!

It's beautiful isn't it?

Best to watch in HD

I was going through some old files on my computer and came across a video I made months ago. It made me feel extremely sentimental. First of all because my hair was still red those days, I'm wearing a white t-shirt that I love and that is missing and I'm wearing my watch which is broken now. But mostly the sentimental feelings were caused by my horse Summer, who isn't mine anymore because she got sold in October. To people who don't have anything with horses this might sound strange, but I had such a great bond with her. She was clever and unpredictable and sometimes even dangerous. The reason she was sold was that she wasn't reliable and that was probably not going to change. She wasn't really suited to be ridden. Now she has a nice place at an appaloosa breeding farm where she can spend her days on the pastures.

My parents didn't really get that I still liked her eventhough she was unpredictable, but I think that was what attracted me to her in the first place. I saw several horses before we bought Summer and they all were nice horses, but none of them distinguished themselves. Summer did, because she really had character.

What do you do when you feel sentimental and miss something or someone?

Music Monday #18

Emeli Sandé - Read all about it
A while ago I heard this song for the first time during Attraction's audtion for Britain's got talent (which was amazing, so go check it out if you haven't seen in). I'm in love with this song. It contains so much emotion and has a powerfull message.

You've got the words to change a nation
But you're biting your tongue
You've spent a life time stuck in silence
Afraid you'll say something wrong
If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song?

My mom's birthdayparty

A while ago my mom had her birthday but my father and brother were out of town, so Suzan and I decided to throw her a little party. There was no one else who was able to come, but I think my mom liked it nonetheless.

We made chocolate cakes, salad, vegetable tart, tzatziki, sandwiches and we had mint tea and cookies. We decorated our living room and I gave my mother a book and a painting (made by myself ofcourse).

I love throwing birthday parties, no matter how small they are.

What is your perfect way to spend a birthday?

Music Monday #17

Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Atlas hands
This song has been in this blog's sidebar for months now, but it deserves to be featured in a blogpost because it's one of my favorite songs. It has that perfect summer vibe that makes me feel free.

Graduation gala

A picture of our graduation gala! From left to right: Sophie, Chantalle, me and Suzan.
My friends and I had a blast. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up and watching our former teachers go crazy on the dancefloor.

This photo was taken in front of our school at the reception at school. From left to right: Lieke-Rosa, me, Chantalle, Sophie and Suzan.

Our graduation will be next thursday, so then I'm finally done with highschool!

Catching up

I totally forgot about Music Monday this week because I was to bussy and I got sick. Next week there will be music again ;). I am participating in Camp NaNoWriMo's July session (my goal is to write 50.000 words) and I've been bussy keeping up with my wordtrack. So far I am doing pretty good.

Yesterday my friends and I got together and we watched Silver linings playbook. After that we dressed up for a reception at school and our graduation gala. We had a great evening and soon I will post some pictures ;).

Furthermore I got into Maastricht University's Science programme, but I'm not sure yet if it is really what I want to do. I still would love to take a gap year and travel.
