For my friends I drew some cards with christmas trees on them. Eventhough they're not as pretty as store bought cards I always like it better to make them myself. Making christmas card definitely gets me in the christmas spirit.

Drawing characters
Ever since I completed Camp Nanowrimo I have had a lot of inspiration for my writing. New characters just keep popping up in my head and al those characters have family and friends who on their turn have a family. It seems like my character basis is growing exponentially.
A character that resently entered my story is Wende, of whom the quick drawing above is. Although she is not my main character she is probably one of my favorite characters to write. She is a bold girl who loves making costumes and dressing up. She does what she wants, whenever she wants it.
For me drawing a character helps me to get to know them. I then start to think about what they look like, what kind of clothes they wear and how they act. Usually I have some drawings laying on my desk when I write. I helps me to not lose sight of who the character really is and to stay true to it.

Last weeks portraits
Last week I started to draw and paint a lot of portraits out of nowhere. It's been a realy long while since I've painted, so they are not amazing, but I'll show you some of them.
Tomorrow I will be leaving for a five day trip to the Ardennes with my friends Sophie and Chantalle. I've got two posts sceduled for coming week.
See you in a few days!
I love trying out new color schemes. Right now I'm totally in love with the combination of yellow, orange and brown.

Silk - Interactive generative art
I stumbled upon Silk a few days ago and find it a great programme. It has a black background and you can use it to draw with what looks like rays of light. The funny thing is that your drawing immediately becomes symmetrical. What you draw comes out a little bit different than you might want it to, because the programme has a bit of a mind of its own, but I like that.
By rotating your mouse differently or moving it faster, you can create different effects. You can also chose rotational symmetry, which I used for the first picture.
With my imagination I see all sort of stuff in the pictures. For example the one above looks a bit like a dress, doesn't it? That's what I saw the first time. Then my mother pointed out to me the scary figure with pointy ears she saw...

This weekend...
... did I bake a chocolate coconut cake of which the recipe needs a little perfection and is then ready to be shared,
... did I do a lot of homework in the sun,
... did I discover a new tv show called Da Vinci's Demons, which I already like quite a lot,
... and did I make some sketches after I had gotten a new idea for a story.
I hope you also had a great weekend!
