Spring Onion Galette
The recipe for this spring onion galette comes from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's book River Cottage Veg Everyday. It is simple to make and tastes great! I'm going to try to make something like this with asparugus, I think that would also work well.

Risotto with chicken and celery
I made this dish last sunday and this week my parents asked me to make it again, so it was quite a succes.
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
300 g chicken breast in pieces
1/2-1 celery head in pieces
300 g risotto rice
1 l chicken broth/ 1 chicken broth tablet
200 g parmesan cheese
white wine
Preparation method
Heat olive oil in a saucepan or wok and fry the onion for about one minute. Bake the chicken along until every piece is white. Add the pieces celery and bake for about two minutes. Add the risotto and bake until the grains are glazy. Then add part of the broth (or water and the broth tablet) and let it simmer. Add more broth (or water) every time almost all is absorbed by the rice. If you want you can also add some white wine. Keep stirring the entire time. Cook the rice for 15-20 minutes until the rice is soft enough. Add pepper to taste and serve with the cheese.
Enjoy!

Spanish and Mexican dinner party
A few weeks ago my friend Suzan and I hosted a Spanish and Mexican dinner party for some friends. We made a lot of food, put on some mexican music and decorated the place and I think it looked great. We even made our own piñata!
We made cupcakes with mustaches, sombrero's, cactuses and peppers, sombrero cookies we found on Pinterest, patatas bravas, little tortilla rolls, zucchini rols with goat cheese, chicken-ananas skewers, tomato salsa, guacamole, taco's and tortilla's.
Above you can see our cactus piñata. For more inspiration for your own Mexican/Spanish themed party you can check out Suzan and mines pinboard here.
I love themed dinner parties!

My mom's birthdayparty
A while ago my mom had her birthday but my father and brother were out of town, so Suzan and I decided to throw her a little party. There was no one else who was able to come, but I think my mom liked it nonetheless.
We made chocolate cakes, salad, vegetable tart, tzatziki, sandwiches and we had mint tea and cookies. We decorated our living room and I gave my mother a book and a painting (made by myself ofcourse).
I love throwing birthday parties, no matter how small they are.
What is your perfect way to spend a birthday?

Birthday party with family and friends
I had made so many plans to make food, but I think I wasn't totally being realistic, because is was way to much work for the short amount of time I had. At the end my mom helped me a little, but still one dish I couldn't make. But I'll tell you wat I did make!
I started by making a cake with strawberry and white chocolate filling. I wasn't quite finished when my friends showed up, so Suzan and Sophie helped to decorate it. It think it turned out really pretty and it also tasted great.
I made Harissa, Feta and Tomato Tartlets, you can find the recipe here. They tasted really good and looked so beautiful! The photo of the end result I took later that evening. It already was quite dark outside, so the photo is really bad, but it'll give you a little impression.
To the right you can see grilled suchinni pizza slices I made, using this recipe. Furthermore I made crepe lasagne with spinach and ricotta. The recipe was in french, so I used Google Translate to translate it. It turned out a little funny, but it was clear what the directions were supposed to be.
My parents had bought champagne, to toast on my birthday. My friends and I played boardgames and ate a lot of food the rest of the day.
Although it wasn't my birthday yet, I had an amazing day.
